Prosecutor General Moves to Strip of Immunity Five MPs, One MEP


Sofia, November 12 (BTA) - Prosecutor General Sotir Tsatsarov on
Wednesday moved to strip of immunity six members of the
Bulgarian and European legislatures, the prosecution authorities
said.

The six include Tsvetan Tsvetanov, Volen Siderov, Georgi
Svilenski, Iliya Iliev and Dimiter Dimitrov of the Bulgarian
National Assembly, and Sergei Stanishev of the European
Parliament.

Trial proceedings have been opened against all six on charges
including malfeasance in office, hooliganism, intentional
mismanagement, tax fraud, damage to mortgaged property and
misplacement of classified documents.

In a letter to the European Parliament President, Tsatsarov has
requested that Stanishev be stripped of his immunity.
