Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said he would hold talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin before the end of his term in office, RTS reported on Friday.

Vucic, who has announced that he will step down on September 27, said in New York on Thursday evening that he intended to speak with Putin in the coming days about energy cooperation and other issues.

Earlier, he met Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, with whom he discussed the possibility of signing a new agreement on Russian gas supplies.

"Here [in New York], we discussed the energy agreements and the sale of [Russia’s majority] stake in NIS. We also discussed the work of Russian Railways in our country, and everything else," Vucic told Serbian journalists at UN Headquarters, where he is attending the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
