site.btaSafe and High-Quality Speed Roads, Motorways Should Be Built as Soon as Possible, Says Bulgarian PM
High-speed roads and motorways that meet high standards of quality and safety should be built as soon as possible, Prime Minister Rumen Radev said here on Tuesday. He was speaking during a presentation of a new approach to the development of transport infrastructure.
The event was also attended by Minister of Transport and Communications Georgi Peev, Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Ivan Shishkov, and representatives of industry organizations and the non-governmental sector.
The Prime Minister noted that the goal is to seek public-private partnerships - a type of concession - for the construction of roads and tunnels, emphasizing that this does not apply to construction projects already underway with public funds, such as the Trakia, Maritsa, Hemus, and Struma motorways.
“We know that we cannot talk about the economy, economic growth, balanced regional development, or solving demographic problems if we lack modern connectivity - and that means modern and safe roads,” Radev argued.
