site.bta27 Galleries, Exhibitors from 8 Countries to Participate in Third Edition of Sofia Art Fair

Twenty-seven galleries and exhibitors from eight countries will participate in the third edition of the Sofia Art Fair, taking place from October 8 to 11 at the John Atanasoff Innovation Forum within Sofia Tech Park. They will showcase works by 88 artists from 17 countries, according to the event organizers.

Participants include galleries, independent spaces, artist collectives, and organizations from Bulgaria, Austria, Italy, the Netherlands, Romania, Turkey, Hungary, and Georgia. Bulgarian participants include Arosita Gallery, Artmark, Atelier 28, Bagra Gallery, Cable Depot, Collect Gallery, Depo Savremie, DG Art Gallery, Doza Gallery, the Error artist collective, Grafikart Gallery, L.I.N.K. Gallery, Little Bird Place, MISSIA, Monev Contemporary, MP-Studio, Perla Gallery, and Rakursi Gallery.

International exhibitors include artdepot gallery (Innsbruck), Fleur & Wouter (Amsterdam), Gallery Siyah Beyaz (Ankara), Massone Arte and Pink Summer (Genoa), Sandwich Gallery and Sector 1 Gallery (Bucharest), Tobe Gallery (Budapest), and Window Project (Tbilisi).

Visitors will see paintings, sculptures, photography, installations, video art, as well as digital and interdisciplinary art. There will be works by Christo and Jeanne-Claude, Carsten Nicolai, Koo Jeong A, Tomás Saraceno, Peter Fend, Moataz Nasr, Kalin Serapionov, Stanimir Genov, Iskra Blagoeva, Boryana Petkova, Simeon Stoilov, Alexander Yuzev, Rositsa Getsova, Sasho Stoitsov, Svilen Blazhev, Anton Stoyanov, Mika Sav, Kaliya Kalacheva, Iv Toshain, Nora Ampova, Ardan Ozmenoglu, Ali Kotan, Esat Tekand, and Gokhan Tufekci.

"Contemporary art is part of the economy - labour lies behind every artwork, and an entire ecosystem of galleries, curators, collectors, experts, and cultural organizations is built around it," says Suni Danadzha, founder and lead organizer of the Sofia Art Fair. According to her, a functioning market, international visibility, and sustainable infrastructure are essential for the development of Bulgarian artists.

Running alongside the exhibition from October 9 to 11 is the "SAF Talks" conference program. Participants will include international experts, artists, curators, collectors, cultural managers, and journalists. Topics will cover the development of and support for contemporary art in the Balkans, artists' professional development, the role of art fairs, collecting, audience engagement, and new forms of art mediation. The accompanying program features special projects, curator-led tours, art mediation and creative workshops, AR/VR experiences, a children's zone, and a meeting area.

The official opening and preview take place on October 8, while public access and SAF Talks run from October 9 to 11. Admission is free for children and young people under 18, as well as for disadvantaged individuals. One-day, weekend, and three-day tickets are available.

Sofia Art Fair 2026 is organized by the Sofia Breathes Foundation, with Art & Culture Today as co-organizer. The event is supported financially by the Ministry of Culture and Sofia Municipality and is included in both the 2026 National Cultural Calendar and the 2026 Sofia Municipality Cultural Events Calendar.
