One person was killed and five others, including a child, were injured in a Russian attack on Odesa, the head of the Odesa City Military Administration, Serhii Lysak, said Friday on Telegram.
Odesa came under a massive combined attack early in the morning, with strikes targeting civilian infrastructure, Lysak said. Residential buildings and vehicles were damaged in one district of the city, he said.
An emergency response centre has been set up to provide affected residents with assistance and consultations. Emergency services are working to deal with the aftermath of the overnight attack, Lysak said.
More than 150,000 Bulgarians live in the Odesa region, making them the region’s third-largest ethnic community, according to Ukraine’s latest official census. An estimated 50,000 to 60,000 Bulgarians live in Odesa city. The largest concentrations of the Bulgarian community are in the Bolhrad, Izmail and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi districts.
