site.btaKyustendil to Build High-Tech Industrial Park

Kyustendil Municipality will build a high-tech industrial park in Maznevo near the village of Zhilentsi, Kyustendil Mayor Ognyan Atanasov and the head of the Sustainable Regional Development Department, Velizar Ivanov, said here on Tuesday.

The park will include 13 regulated plots with electricity, water, sewage, gas, communications and other technical infrastructure. The aim is to provide investors with ready-to-use sites so companies can launch projects faster and create well-paid jobs, Atanasov emphasized. He recalled that the initiative began in 2019 with a memorandum with the National Industrial Zones Company. 

Located about two kilometres from Kyustendil, the park will benefit from its proximity to international road I-6, the Gyueshevo border crossing, Kyustendil railway station and the Struma motorway. Planned infrastructure includes a 20 kV power line, water pipeline, optical communications network, road connection to I-6, internal roads, photovoltaic systems with battery storage, EV charging stations and a gas facility.

The park is intended to attract high-tech manufacturing and support growth in ICT, logistics, and the production of advanced components and systems, strengthening the local business environment and economy.

The project is financed under the 2021–2027 Regions in Growth Programme through the Just Transition Mechanism, supporting industrial and logistics parks focused on clean energy. Partners include the Electricity System Security Operator (ESO), the Road Infrastructure Agency and Kyustendilska Voda. The total project value is EUR 10.48 million, including EUR 10.39 million in grant funding and just over EUR 89,000 in municipal co-financing. The project must be completed by February 2028.
