site.btaDanube Water Level Rises Along Most of Bulgaria’s River Section
The water level of the Danube has risen along almost the entire Bulgarian section of the river over the past 24 hours, the Executive Agency for Exploration and Maintenance of the Danube River said on Saturday.
The largest increase was recorded at the gauging station near Lom, where the water level rose by 9 centimetres. At Vidin, the level increased by 7 centimetres, while at Novo Selo it rose by 6 centimetres, at Oryahovo by 4 centimetres and at Nikopol by 2 centimetres. No change was recorded at the gauging station near Svishtov.
In Ruse, the water level fell by 7 centimetres, bringing the reading this morning to 128 centimetres below the reference zero level. In Silistra, the level also declined, by 1 centimetre.
According to information from the River Supervision Directorate in Ruse, part of the Executive Agency Maritime Administration, no vessels have run aground either within or outside the navigation channel over the past 24 hours.
The hydrological situation remains difficult, with all existing restrictions on vessels’ permissible draught still in effect along the entire Bulgarian section of the river.
The Executive Agency for Exploration and Maintenance of the Danube River forecasts that the water level near Ruse will rise by 9 centimetres over the next two days.
