Prosecutor Dimitar Leshtakov of the Veliko Tarnovo Appellate Prosecutor’s Office has been nominated for an elected member of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) from the prosecutors’ quota, the SJC press office said here on Friday.

He was nominated by magistrates from the Veliko Tarnovo Appellate, District and Regional Prosecutor’s Offices, who cited his high moral qualities and professional qualifications, based on his extensive practical experience gained over nearly 30 years of work in the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Bulgaria.

The nomination highlights his impeccable reputation, integrity and independence, excellent legal knowledge, ability to conduct in-depth analysis of case law and legislation, as well as his experience in drafting legal opinions, cassation appeals by prosecutors and other prosecutorial acts. The nominators expressed confidence that Prosecutor Leshtakov would contribute to enhancing and strengthening the authority of the judicial system and would defend the interests of prosecutors.
