Athens is ready to consider requests from allies and partners for defence assistance should the need arise, Greek Deputy Foreign Minister Tasos Chatzivasilеiou said in an interview with Greece's Open TV.
Chatzivasilеiou recalled that Greece has previously offered and provided such defence assistance to Cyprus and Bulgaria when necessary.
In a report on the issue, Greek public broadcaster ERT recalled that if Bulgaria makes a new request for assistance with its air defence, any decision on the possible redeployment of a Greek Patriot missile battery would have to be taken by KYSEA, Greece's Government Council for National Security.
According to Efimerida ton Syntakton, one of the scenarios under consideration is the return of a Greek Patriot battery to Didymoteicho, northeastern Greece, if Bulgaria requests assistance with its air defence.
In March 2026, Greece supported Bulgaria's air defence with a Patriot battery and F-16 fighter jets.
