site.btaCeremony in Varna Marks Bulgarian Navy's 147th Anniversary
A ceremonial meeting and concert in Varna on Saturday marked the 147th anniversary of the Bulgarian Navy, the Defence Ministry reported. It was the sixth day of the official anniversary celebrations.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Defence Minister Katerina Gramatikova-Ivanova, Chief of Defence Adm. Emil Eftimov, Navy Commander RAdm. Kiril Mihaylov, senior officers from the Armed Forces, representatives of central and local government, and naval veterans.
Awards were presented to military and civilian personnel who have distinguished themselves through a high level of professionalism and responsibility in the performance of their duties.
Addressing the Navy personnel, Deputy Minister Gramatikova stated: "Your dedication to the military profession, discipline and responsibility are an example of worthy service in the interests of society and national security."
She further noted: "In a complex and dynamic security environment, the Bulgarian Navy continues to carry out its tasks with honour and a high degree of professionalism, both nationally and as part of allied operations."
RAdm. Mihaylov highlighted the Navy's pride that, despite the complex situation, there has not been a single incident in Bulgarian maritime areas. The Commander thanked the political and military leadership of the Ministry of Defence and all Navy personnel.
