site.btaEnergy Committee Approves Renewable Energy Act Amendments at Second Reading
The parliamentary Committee on Energy adopted amendments to the Renewable Energy Sources Act at second reading on Tuesday. The amendments were submitted by Rumyana Petrova of Progressive Bulgaria and a group of MPs. The revisions introduce two interrelated changes to the Renewable Energy Sources Act and the Energy Act, aimed at implementing key milestone 96 under Reform C4.R6 "Increasing electricity from renewable sources" of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), as well as at reducing the administrative and regulatory burden on investments in the energy sector.
The amendments also introduce a new extension of the validity period from three to nine months for wind energy producers to join the grid connection, which is linked to the implementation of Measure 2 of Stage M96 under Reform C4.R6 of the RRP.
Revisions introduced to the Energy Act are aimed at streamlining the licensing procedure for the distribution of electricity within the grid serving integrated energy facilities that are not independently connected to the electricity grid, with a view to stimulating production, including by reducing the administrative burden.
