site.btaCouncil for Electronic Media Holds Discussion on Editorial Independence
The Council for Electronic Media (CEM) is organizing a discussion on editorial independence here on Wednesday. The discussion is taking place in connection with the implementation of the European Act on Media Freedom. CEM Chair Gabriela Naplatanova, noted that the initiative aims to bring together representatives of the professional community, academia, and journalism organizations to discuss standards for editorial independence and its protection from external influence.
In attendance are Naplatanova, as well as CEM members Galina Georgieva, Prolet Velkova, and Kadrinka Kadrinova.
Among the event attendees are Milen Mitev, Director General of Bulgarian National Radio; Evgenia Drumeva, Bulgarian News Agency Deputy Director General; Anna Tanova, Executive Director of the Association of Bulgarian Radio and Television Broadcasters; Union of Bulgarian Journalists Chair Snezhana Todorova; Association of European Journalists - Bulgaria Chair Maria Cheresheva; Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) journalist Valeria Nikolova; Ivelina Dimitrova, member of the Bulgarian National Television Board of Directors. Also present at the forum were representatives from the academic community, including media law expert Nelly Ognyanova, university professors Ilia Valkov and Velislava Antonova from the University of National and World Economy, as well as Orlin Spasov from Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski.
