site.btaPM Radev Meets with Representatives of German Research Institutes, Publishing Houses

Bulgaria is working to strengthen cooperation in the field of education as a key factor for building an economy with higher added value and increasing competitiveness, said Prime Minister Rumen Radev at a meeting with representatives of German research institutes and publishing houses, the Government Information Service reported on Monday.

The meeting took place at the initiative of the German Federal Association for Economic Development and Foreign Trade, which presented opportunities for further deepening of the bilateral partnership in the economy, investments, innovations, science and research, education and sports.

The opportunities for partnership between German and Bulgarian universities, as well as research organizations, were discussed for the purpose of technology exchange, innovation development, training of personnel and implementation of scientific developments in practice. Emphasis was placed on the potential for cooperation in the adoption of modern production technologies, robotics, artificial intelligence for industrial applications and sustainable production.

Radev pointed out that Germany is a leading economic partner of Bulgaria and added that the development of the human factor is among the main prerequisites for sustainable economic growth. He noted the need to build a modern scientific and research infrastructure in Bulgaria, which would encourage more young people to choose to stay and find their professional fulfillment in the country.

The meeting was also attended by the Innovation and Digital Transformation Minister Ivan Vasilev, Deputy Education Minister Nikolay Vitanov, Deputy Interior Minister Kaloyan Miltenov, and the President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Evelina Slavcheva.

Last week, PM Radev met with the leadership of the German Federal Association for Economic Development and Foreign Trade and with representatives of scientific and business organizations in the fields of high technology, artificial intelligence, energy and the construction of "smart cities".
