site.btaOver 1,500 People to Be Trained in Fire Prevention Under European Programme

Over 1,500 people are to be trained in fire safety, and 130 have already undergone training, said Minister of Labour and Social Policy Natalia Efremova on Monday. She was speaking during a ceremony to provide new equipment to the Fire Service under the Human Resources Development Programme 2021–2027, co-financed by the European Union. The ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Interior Ivan Demerdzhiev and the Director of the Directorate for Fire Safety and Civil Protection, Alexander Dzhartov.

"For us, being here together today is a celebration, as we celebrate not only the delivery of certain equipment, but also the exceptionally good interaction between institutions and prove with today's demonstrations that when institutions interact, the results can be very fast, effective for the benefit of people and nature," said Efremova.

Efremova explained that two types of activities are being developed under the programme: actions related to fire prevention, and actions related to eliminating the consequences of fires. She added that for the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, the most important moment is related to the training activities both in the directorates themselves, the preparation with more and more knowledge and skills for field work, as well as with support for volunteerism in the country and volunteer units.

The Social Policy Minister expressed readiness for further joint initiatives not only with the fire safety directorates and volunteer units, but also with municipalities for the purpose of prevention of wildfires, as well as for better results this year and in the future.
