A report by the Bulgarian Association of Software Companies (BASSCOM) on Bulgarian schools’ readiness to integrate AI will be presented at Sofia Tech Park, BASSCOM said here Tuesday. The study was commissioned by the Ministry of Education and Science.
The report provides a detailed assessment of Bulgarian school education’s readiness to move from ad hoc technology use to the deliberate, safe and responsible integration of artificial intelligence.
The analysis is based on a nationwide survey of 10,038 students, 1,767 teachers and 210 school leaders.
Education and Science Minister Georgi Valchev has been invited to open the event.
BASSCOM’s Dobroslav Dimitrov and Alexander Angelov will take part in the presentation. The study will be presented by lead researcher Lachezar Afrikanov.
The study was first outlined at the Skills for Innovation in Education conference in Sofia in November 2025 as a national assessment of schools’ readiness to introduce AI. It was designed to support the development of suitable investment programmes and cover different types of schools across the country.
AI and digital skills have also become part of broader education policy discussions in Bulgaria. BASSCOM regularly publishes analytical reports on the technology sector, including its annual Barometer, whose latest edition highlighted rising demand in artificial intelligence, machine learning and cybersecurity.
