site.btaBulgaria and Poland Agree to Accelerate Industrial Cooperation

Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Investments and Industry Alexander Pulev met with Polish Minister of State Assets Wojciech Balczun in Gdansk to discuss ways to deepen industrial and economic cooperation between Bulgaria and Poland, the Bulgarian Economy Ministry said in a press release on Friday.

During the meeting, Pulev referred to the talks held a day earlier between Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev and his Polish counterpart Donald Tusk, during which the two leaders outlined the main priorities for expanding bilateral cooperation.

Pulev identified industrial manufacturing, innovation, artificial intelligence, transport connectivity, energy, and the defence industry as key areas for future collaboration. He also underscored the importance of a planned bilateral agreement that will establish an institutional framework for cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including technology transfer, innovation, and technological development.

Pulev invited Polish companies to expand their investment presence in Bulgaria, stressing that the government is keen to encourage strategic partners such as Poland to explore new investment opportunities in the country.

"We want to encourage our strategic partners, such as Poland, to discover new investment opportunities in Bulgaria. You can count on our country as a predictable and reliable partner," he said. He added that there is considerable potential for joint projects in sectors including energy, transport connectivity, high technology, and innovation.

Pulev also expressed Bulgaria's interest in drawing on Poland's successful experience in implementing economic reforms. "Poland is an exceptionally successful development model. The country's economic growth between 1990 and 2025 has been truly impressive," he noted.

The ministers also discussed the development of public-private partnerships and the management of state-owned enterprises.

"You have succeeded in building an efficient and professional approach," Pulev told his counterpart, voiced readiness for an active exchange of expertise between the two countries.

For his part, Balczun said Poland was prepared to share its experience and supported closer bilateral cooperation. "Bulgaria has a very bright future. We can share our experience, and that will benefit all of us," he said.

The two ministers also explored ways to support small and medium-sized enterprises through dual listings on both the Bulgarian Stock Exchange and the Warsaw Stock Exchange, with the latter seen as a strong partner offering significant opportunities for business growth.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Pulev and Balczun agreed on the need to continue expert- and political-level dialogue and to organize a bilateral business forum aimed at strengthening contacts between companies and creating new opportunities for investment, industrial partnerships, and technological cooperation between Bulgaria and Poland.
