Private donations to participants in Bulgaria's April 19, 2026 parliamentary elections nearly doubled compared with the previous parliamentary vote in October 2024, while the number of individual donations more than tripled, according to data released by the National Audit Office as it launched an audit of campaign financing.
All election participants - 14 parties, 10 coalitions and one initiative committee - submitted campaign finance reports to the National Audit Office. The reports, along with information on donors and contributions, have been published in the Unified Register under the Election Code.
According to the submitted data, monetary donations during the 2026 campaign totaled EUR 1.3 million, up from EUR 664,694 in the October 2024 elections. The number of donations from private individuals rose to 844 from 250 in the previous parliamentary campaign.
The National Audit Office has begun auditing campaign financing for participants that declared revenues or expenditures exceeding BGN 1,000 (EUR 511.29). Auditors will examine whether the revenues and expenses reported by parties, coalitions and initiative committees correspond to actual campaign activities and spending.
The campaign finance reports and donor information are publicly available through the Unified Register under the Election Code.
