Bulgarian boxers Radoslav Rosenov and Rami Kiwan both guaranteed themselves at least bronze medals Friday at the Boxing World Cup in Guiyang after strong quarter-final performances that secured their places in the semi-finals.

In the 60 kg division, Rosenov delivered a commanding display against Japan’s Shunsuke Kitamoto. In a bout featuring two bronze medallists from last year’s World Championships in Liverpool, the Bulgarian imposed his superiority from start to finish and earned a unanimous 3:0 judges’ decision, booking his place in the semi-finals. There, he will face reigning Olympic champion Abdumalik Khalokov, who also holds the world title from Liverpool.

In the 75 kg category, Kiwan followed up with an equally emphatic performance. The World Championship silver medallist from last year controlled his quarter-final bout against Uzbekistan’s Timur Nurseitov, securing a perfect 5:0 judges’ decision and advancing confidently to the semi-finals. His next opponent will be Poland’s Mateusz Urban, with whom Kiwan shares an even head-to-head record from previous meetings in Poland.

The tournament in Guiyang is part of the highest category events organized by World Boxing and serves as one of the qualification competitions on the road to the 2028 Summer Olympics.
