Prime Minister Rumen Radev said at a Council of Ministers' meeting with associations of road transport operators on Tuesday that Government is about to take measures to support the transport industry and its sustainable development, reported the Cabinet's press centre.
The measures are foreseen to be implemented in the 2026 State Budget Act in response to the hardships encountered by the transport services due to the military actions in the Middle East which caused increased fuel prices. Meeting attendees reached a common standpoint that underpinning the transport sector is crucial not only for companies but also for preserving supply chains' prices unaugmented, thus controlling the inflation rate.
During the discussion, Radev said that Bulgarian Export Insurance Agency (BAEZ EAD) will assist the sector through a programme which will provide them with guaranteed mechanisms and will enable rescheduling and delaying lease payments. The measure was elaborated as part of the Government's actions aimed at supporting the business and enhancing the transport industry's liquidity. Current efforts are directed to lessen the value of insurance services for the sector and to establish sustainable insurance environment.
Radev stressed that the Cabinet is working on optimizing toll systems with particular focus on tackling transit traffic problems and effectively collecting penalties imposed.
