site.btaMPs to Request All Information Regarding KYB's Activities in Bulgaria from National Security Agency
The parliamentary Committee for Control of the Security Services, the Application and Use of the Special Intelligence Means and the Data Access under the Electronic Communications Act unanimously decided to request all information from the State Agency for National Security (SANS) regarding the KYB Corporation, Continue the Change Chair Assen Vassilev told reporters in Parliament on Thursday. On May 26, Varna Mayor Blagomir Kotsev announced that authorities halted the construction of an illegal residential complex in the Baba Alino area near the city. The complex is allegedly linked to the Ukrainian investor KYB.
The Chair of the Control of the Security Services Committee, Rumen Milanov, told reporters that there is sufficient evidence to lead to arrests. He added: "We have examined SANS's activities in sufficient detail. There are still many aspects of this case that need to be clarified. It is clear that some agencies have not done their job." He added that SANS and the intelligence services have information on the whereabouts of KYB's owner, Ukrainian citizen Oleg Nevzorov. According to Milanov, KYB cannot be described as a threat to Bulgaria's national security, but it does indicate that there are gaps in this area.
During the 51st National Assembly, the committee failed to reach a quorum 11 times in a row to hear from the then-head of SANS, Denyo Denev, regarding KYB's activities in Bulgaria.
