site.btaTwo Dead, Dozen Injured in Major Traffic Accident in Sofia

A serious road traffic accident with at least 12 injured and two fatalities was reported on Chelopeshko Shose in Sofia at around 19:30 on Friday. The crash reportedly involved a city bus that was making a left turn when it was struck by a passenger car. A third passenger vehicle was also involved in the accident.

Authorities said that 14 people in total were involved in the crash – the three drivers and 11 passengers. It was reported that the first fatality was a bus passenger, according to Senior Inspector Georgi Mitev of the Sofia Traffic Police, who briefed journalists at the scene.

Sofia Mayor Vassil Terziev said that one of the deceased was a 27-year-old man who had been traveling on the bus.

The second victim, a 31-year-old man, later died in hospital at Tsaritsa Yoanna – ISUL, the medical institution told BTA.
