The international Special Operations Forces exercise Trojan Footprint 26 brought together 3,000 military personnel from Bulgaria, Germany, Georgia, Greece, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, the United States, the Republic of North Macedonia, Hungary, and Croatia, who participated in training exercises across several European countries, the Ministry of Defence's press service reported on Friday. As part of the exercise, units from the Bulgarian and Romanian special forces conducted joint training on Bulgarian territory.

As the largest Special Forces exercise in Europe, the main objective of Trojan Footprint 26 was to enhance combat readiness, operational interoperability, and cohesion among NATO allies while carrying out missions in a complex, dynamic, and multinational environment. The selection of realistic scenarios provided excellent conditions for testing modern military capabilities, tactics, techniques, and procedures, and for strengthening regional partnerships in support of NATO's enhanced deterrence and defence posture.

The exercise confirmed the key strategic message that NATO Special Operations Forces possess exceptionally high readiness and are combat-ready, prepared to integrate their capabilities, and act together quickly and effectively across all domains. The results of the collaboration between Bulgarian and Romanian service members demonstrated that regular joint training ensures full coordination and the capacity for collective defence within the framework of a defensive operation.

Brigadier General Bozhidar Boykov, commander of the Joint Special Operations Command, praised the performance of the Bulgarian service members participating in the exercise, as well as the level of interoperability with their Romanian counterparts.
