The government approved a draft amendment to the Framework Agreement between Bulgaria and Lockheed Martin Global INC regarding the F-16 Block 70 Industrial Cooperation Programme, the government information service reported on Friday.

By a decision of the National Assembly of May 8, 2026, the Ministry of Economy and Industry was transformed into the Ministry of Economy, Investments and Industry, and the Ministry of Innovation and Growth was transformed by merging the Ministry of e-Government into the Ministry of Innovation and Digital Transformation. Given the structural changes that have occurred, the government approved a draft Decision of the Council of Ministers amending Decision No. 349 of the Council of Ministers of 2026, authorizing the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Investments and Industry and the Minister of Innovation and Digital Transformation to sign a draft Amendment No. 1 to the Framework Agreement between the Ministry of Economy and Lockheed Martin Global INC on the F-16 Block 70 Industrial Cooperation Programme.

The Framework Agreement between the Ministry of Economy and Lockheed Martin on the F-16 Block 70 Industrial Cooperation Programme was signed first on July 11, 2019, in Washington, D.C., and then on July 12, 2019, in Sofia. By Decision No. 349, the Government authorized the Minister of Economy and Industry and the Minister of Innovation and Growth on the Bulgarian side to sign Amendment No. 1 to the Framework Agreement on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Bulgaria, subject to subsequent ratification.
