site.btaBulgaria and US Discuss Corridor VIII, Aviation and 6G Networks
Bulgaria's Transport and Communications Minister Georgi Peev held a working meeting with the United States Chargé d'Affaires in Bulgaria, H. Martin McDowell, the ministry's press office said on Thursday. The discussion focused on the development of regional transport connectivity and on high technology.
Peev underlined the importance of Corridor VIII, which has been designated a priority project for Bulgaria and a key element for regional security. He said efforts are directed towards speeding up the construction of the railway link along this Corridor and coordinating with North Macedonia on the implementation of the cross-border railway tunnel.
The meeting also discussed cooperation in the field of aviation. The two sides reviewed opportunities for modernizing Bulgaria's airport infrastructure with American expert assistance and the prospects for opening a direct air service between Sofia and the United States.
In the sphere of high technology, the discussion covered the development of 6G networks and the protection of critical infrastructure. Minister Peev presented Bulgaria’s experience in building high-tech data centres and confirmed the commitment to uphold the highest international security standards.
