The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) and the Petko Zadgorski Burgas Art Gallery signed a systematic partnership agreement, making the Burgas gallery the first art institution outside Bulgaria’s capital to enter such cooperation with the agency. The agreement was signed by BTA Director General Kiril Valchev and Gallery Director Andrey Yanev Thursday in Burgas.

Under the agreement, the art gallery will provide weekly content with cleared copyright for free use by Bulgarian and international media. Until now, BTA had similar regular partnerships only with the National Gallery in Sofia and the Sofia City Art Gallery.

Valchev emphasized that coverage of the Burgas Art Gallery has grown sharply since 2021, adding that he expects even more systematic presence under the new agreement. He emphasized that BTA now works with all 51 Bulgarian universities, with about one-third offering art-related programmes. He also highlighted the importance of the National Academy of Arts, which is marking its 130th anniversary with an international conference in Burgas, and presented a special issue of the LIK magazine dedicated to the milestone.

Yanev expressed satisfaction with the partnership, expressing hope that a storage facility, which the gallery still lacks, will be realized with institutional support. Speaking from the icon hall, he pointed out that the space gives the icons a continued cultural life beyond their original religious function and thanked BTA, calling it a key channel for ensuring cultural events are properly documented and widely disseminated.
