A Serbian defence delegation is visiting Bulgaria, the Defence Ministry in Sofia reported on Wednesday. The group includes senior military officers, members of the University of Defence in Belgrade, representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces, and officials from other Serbian institutions.
Bulgaria's Deputy Defence Minister Lyubomir Monov held a meeting with trainees from the 15th class of the strategic course at Serbia's University of Defence. Monov said it is the first visit in this format. He stressed the development of bilateral relations in the field of security and defence and the opportunities for military cooperation.
The guests were briefed on key elements of Bulgaria's defence policy within the EU's Common Security and Defence Policy and NATO. Special attention was given to the capabilities of Bulgaria's higher military education and higher medical education for the needs of the armed forces, human resources policies in the military, and research units in the field of defence. The discussion touched upon the main aspects of the modernization of Bulgaria's Armed Forces and current issues concerning global and European security risks.
The Serbian delegation's itinerary also includes a visit to the G. S. Rakovski Military Academy in Sofia, where a meeting will be held with the leadership and other representatives of the institution.
