Motorcyclists from Silistra will block the border checkpoint to Romania on Friday in support of the national protest against the increased prices of compulsory third-party liability insurance, Iron Cross Motorcycle Club President Teodor Simeonov told BTA. Traffic through the checkpoint will be blocked for one hour from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Simeonov pointed out that the reason for the dissatisfaction of high-speed enthusiasts is the drastic increase in the price of compulsory insurance. The motorcyclists are demanding the introduction of seasonal and short-term policies, as well as taking into account the real risk profile and annual mileage of each driver. 

The Bulgarian motorcycling community has expressed dissatisfaction with the increase in the price of insurance and the limited options for installment payments. The Ombudsman and the Financial Supervision Commission stated that they will propose legislative changes related to motorcycle insurance.
