Bulgaria must remain on the Euro-Atlantic path while defending its national dignity and freedom, said the leader of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF), Delyan Peevski, in a statement distributed by the party’s press centre here on Saturday on the occasion of Europe Day, May 9.

Europe Day marks 76 years since the foundations of the European Union were laid. It is a community built on shared values of peace, solidarity, and prosperity, the MRF leader added.

Today Bulgaria is a full member of the community, having met all criteria and completed the path of unity and European cooperation. It must continue to uphold equality and democracy as the highest values for people, while preserving its Euro-Atlantic course and defending its national dignity and freedom, the statement further says.

Europe Day is being marked across the country with various initiatives.
