site.btaUPDATED BTA Signs Partnership Agreement with Bulgarian Cycling Federation
The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) signed a permanent partnership agreement with the Bulgarian Cycling Federation on Tuesday. The contract was signed at the exact time the 2026 Giro d’Italia kicked off in the coastal town of Nessebar.
The agreement was signed by BTA Director General Kiril Valchev and Bulgarian Cycling Federation President Alexander Alexiev.
Valchev said the agency’s Giro d’Italia 2026: Cycling in Bulgaria section has already produced nearly 300 publications in Bulgarian and English, covering not only the race but also cycling in Bulgaria, including federation and club activities, amateur cycling, infrastructure development, and municipal investments along the Giro route.
He also highlighted bicycle production in Bulgaria and tracked domestic competitions and Bulgarian participation abroad. Valchev also mentioned BTA’s long-standing tradition in covering cycling, presenting archival material dating back to 1949, including the first Republican Cycling Tour of Bulgaria.
Bulgarian Cycling Federation President Alexandar Alexiev welcomed the agreement, calling it a major step for the sport’s visibility. He said cycling in Bulgaria has long lacked consistent media coverage and voiced hope that the partnership would boost public interest and support for athletes and events nationwide.
Valchev further said that previous cooperation with sports federations has included limited output, but expects significantly increased content through shared materials, including photos and videos, as well as sustained coverage after the Giro concludes.
