site.btaPhased Traffic Restrictions Planned on Sections of Bulgaria's Road Network from May 8-10 for Giro d’Italia
Traffic restrictions will be introduced in stages on sections of Bulgaria’s national road network from May 8 to May 10 for the Giro d’Italia, the Road Infrastructure Agency said on Thursday. The temporary changes will affect sections of the first-, second- and third-class roads in the regions of Burgas, Sliven, Yambol, Veliko Tarnovo, Plovdiv, Pazardzhik and Sofia.
The changes to traffic organization on the affected sections will be introduced in stages ahead of each stage of the race. The Traffic Police Sector will fully secure the cyclists’ passage, and traffic will be restored gradually after the last vehicle escorting the cycling convoy has passed and after permission from the Interior Ministry authorities.
The route of the cycling tour on sections of the national road network is as follows:
On May 8, in the first stage of the race, the riders will travel along a route in the Burgas region. Restrictions on national roads will be introduced in stages to allow the cyclists to pass. The race will start at 2 p.m. in Nessebar.
On May 9, in the second stage of the race, the route will pass along national roads in the regions of Burgas, Sliven, Yambol and Veliko Tarnovo.
The race will start at 12 p.m. in Burgas.
On May 10, in the third stage of the race, the cyclists’ route includes sections of national roads in the Plovdiv, Pazardzhik and Sofia regions. Traffic will be restricted in stages on sections of the road network to allow the riders to pass. The race will start at 1 p.m. in Plovdiv.
