Sofia Mayor Vassil Terziev said courage "rarely looks heroic in everyday life" in a Facebook message marking May 6, the Day of Valour and the Bulgarian Armed Forces.

"More often, it is simply a person who stays in place when things are difficult, helps at the right moment and takes responsibility while others hesitate," the mayor of Sofia wrote.

Terziev said the capital relies on such people "in the army, the security services and volunteer teams" and described them as professionals "for whom duty is not a pose, but a choice and action".

The mayor attended the blessing ceremony of military flags and sacred banners held at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier in Sofia on the occasion of May 6.
