About 75 thousand cars are expected to leave Sofia for St. George's Day on May 6. On May 5 and 6, the movement of trucks over 12 tonnes will be restricted at certain times on the Trakia Motorway, Struma Motorway, Hemus Motorway and on a section of road I-1 in Blagoevgrad district, the Road Infrastructure Agency announced on Monday.
On May 6, increased traffic towards Sofia is expected - about 120,000 vehicles, some of which have left before the holidays, around May 1. The most busy traffic is expected in the afternoon and evening hours between 2 pm and 9 pm.
In this regard, the movement of heavy trucks over 12 tonnes will be temporarily restricted on the busiest road stretches of the Trakia, Hemus and Struma Motorways. The restriction does not apply to vehicles over 12 tonnes that carry out public passenger transport, as well as to motor vehicles that transport dangerous goods, live animals, perishable foods and temperature-controlled cargo and specialized carcass trucks.
