site.btaBulgarian President Describes White House Correspondents' Dinner Shooting as "Deeply Concerning"
In a Facebook post on Sunday, Bulgaria's President Iliana Iotova said that the shooting incident at an event attended by US President Donald Trump was deeply concerning.
“Any form of violence against political leaders, democratic institutions, and citizens is completely unacceptable and undermines the very foundations of society. This incident once again shows how fragile security can be and how important it is to uphold the principles of democracy through dialogue, not violence,” Iotova wrote.
She added that all political, state, and public leaders must clearly condemn such actions.
Donald Trump was evacuated after gunshots were fired during the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner on Saturday evening. The shooter was detained, and US media outlets have already described him as an expert in technology.
Leaders from around the world reacted to the shooting, which was also attended by First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and more than 2,600 guests. The event was held at the Hilton Hotel in Washington.
