Italian singer Eros Ramazzotti performed to a full house at Arena 8888 Sofia on Friday evening, delivering a show marked by several special gestures toward the Bulgarian audience.
More than once, the Italian pop star thanked the crowd in fluent Bulgarian. Toward the end of the nearly two-hour show, the large screen behind him lit up in the colors of the Bulgarian flag. Another tribute came during one of his biggest hits, “Musica è“ (1988), which he finished with the words “Sofia è.”
One of the biggest surprises of the evening was his nod to “Bangaranga,“ Bulgaria’s entry in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, with Ramazzotti singing the chorus and dancing to the rhythm.
The first encore was an acoustic performance of “Un angelo disteso al sole,” accompanied only by guitar. It provided a gentle contrast to the high-energy main set.
For the finale, Ramazzotti sang “Più bella cosa,” joined by all 11 members of his band.
Over the course of the evening, he took the audience on a journey through his nearly 45-year career, performing around 20 of his greatest hits, including “Quanto amore sei,” “Un’emozione per sempre,” “Stella gemella,” “Adesso tu,” “Una storia importante,” “Più che puoi,” “Fuoco nel fuoco,” “Se bastasse una canzone,” “Un’altra te / No Woman No Cry,” and “Cose della vita.”
Ramazzotti’s return to Sofia came at the invitation of Fest Team, exactly 20 years after his first concert in this country on July 3, 2006, at Akademik Stadium.
