site.btaCEC to Announce Seat Distribution in 52nd National Assembly
The Central Election Commission (CEC) is expected to announce later on Thursday the distribution of parliamentary seats among parties and coalitions in the 52nd National Assembly. According to the election timeline for the April 19 vote, April 23 is the deadline for the CEC to publish the final vote totals and the allocation of mandates in the next parliament.
CEC Chair Kamelia Neykova confirmed on Wednesday that the election results would be announced on Thursday. She also said that the commission will publish the names of the elected members of parliament on Saturday.
By April 24, candidates elected in two multi-member constituencies must declare in which list they wish to remain, the timeline further says.
According to the results with 100% of tally sheets processed, the Progressive Bulgaria coalition leads with 44.594% (1,444,924 votes), followed by GERB-UDF with 13.387% (433,755 votes), Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria with 12.618% (408,845 votes), the Movement for Rights and Freedoms with 7.120% (230,693 votes), and Vazrazhdane with 4.257% (137,940 votes).
President Iliana Iotova said earlier that it is very likely the first sitting of the 52nd National Assembly will be convened next Wednesday or Thursday.
