In a statement quoted by his party press office, Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) leader Delyan Peevski said Rumen Radev deserves congratulations for winning people's trust. "It is voters' decision who will have the responsibility, having a stable and clear majority, to take the steering wheel for the country and take it through the grave crisis that is happening because of the complicated international situation," he said.

He said that Bulgaria "should not swerve from its European path, which is irreversible and without an alternative" and "must not allow its value-based choice to be put to question". 

Of his party, he said that it sees the election result as a clear evidence that the party supporters "did not give in to the unprecedented pressure and trusted us again with their future and gave us a mandate to continue working for our cause: a better life for people no matter where they are".

"In the new Parliament, we will consistently support people through our policies in the social sector, regional development, agriculture and local power," Peevski said.

MRF won 7.12% and 230,693 votes, and will likely have 21 seats in the 240-seat Parliament. They had 29 MPs in the last Parliament.
