Election day has started normally across the country, Central Election Commission (CEC) Chair Kamelia Neykova told a briefing on Sunday, noting that any issues with absent section election commission members have been resolved.
Some voting sections in Sofia and elsewhere opened late, but the problem was quickly addressed, CEC Deputy Chair and spokesperson Rositsa Mateva said.
The CEC has suspended the use of two voting machines in Varna and Lovech due to broken seals, while machine voting has also been halted in two places in Ruse and Yambol because of technical issues. Other reported problems, including discrepancies in machine time settings, are being addressed by technicians.
Neykova called on election officials to ensure that voters can exercise their right to vote without obstruction and urged that complaints be submitted with valid grounds. She assured that the CEC has organized the process to ensure a normal election day.
