A total of 12 flights operated by German carrier Lufthansa to and from Sofia Airport were cancelled on Wednesday and Thursday due to a strike by cabin crew, the airport told BTA. Of these, six per day are departures and six arrivals.
The UFO cabin crew union has again called on flight attendants of Lufthansa and CityLine to stop work today and tomorrow. The strike began at 00:01 on Wednesday and is expected to continue until shortly before midnight on Thursday.
Union leader Joachim Vazquez Burger said there is no more suitable time for protest than the planned ceremony marking the 100th anniversary of Lufthansa’s first flight, which is expected to be attended by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. According to him, this is an opportunity to show the working conditions of employees and how management decisions affect staff.
There has been no official response yet from Lufthansa regarding the new cabin crew strike.
