New retail fuel prices will come into force in North Macedonia from midnight, the country's Energy Regulatory Commission announced, following the government's decision to reduce fuel excise duties.
Under the new pricing, EUROSUPER BS-95 will sell for MKD 83.50 (EUR 1.35) per litre, EUROSUPER BS-98 for MKD 85.50 (EUR 1.38), and diesel for MKD 98.00 (EUR 1.59) per litre.
The prices include the reduced VAT rate, lowered from 18% to 10% by a government decision, as well as the reduced excise duties on fuels.
Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said North Macedonia continues to have the lowest fuel prices in the region. He added that the country has sufficient fuel supplies, despite increased consumption "due to pressure in certain border areas".
According to the regulator, without the VAT and excise reductions, prices would have been significantly higher, by about MKD 8.5 (EUR 0.14) per litre for petrol and around MKD 12 (EUR 0.19) per litre for diesel.
