site.btaSpace Research Institute to Hold Open Day on April 8
The Space Research and Technology Institute with the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (SRTI-BAS) will hold an Open Day on April 8, the institute said.
The event will take place from 10 am to 3 pm at the BAS Site 1 campus, Acad. Georgi Bonchev Street, Building 1. It is expected to be opened by the Director of SRTI-BAS, Prof. Dr. Georgi Zhelev, with a lecture on Bulgaria’s contribution to the development of space research.
The program includes lectures and talks dedicated to the life and work of Yuri Gagarin, the international cooperation of ISRT-BAS from the Interkosmos program to the present day, new projects and the future of space research, aerospace techniques and technologies, as well as trends in Earth observation and artificial intelligence.
Visitors will be able to explore the institute’s facilities, as the laboratories will be open. Demonstrations are planned of the stationary simulator BION-1, used for studying operators working in extreme conditions, a simulator of an unmanned aerial vehicle, as well as the exhibition “Bulgaria – a Space Nation.”
A lecture and drone demonstrations in front of the building are also scheduled in the afternoon.
