BTA will publish the names of the top-of-the-list candidates of every party/coalition for all constituencies for the April 19 parliamentary elections. The information about the candidates is provided by the respective political entity, the candidates themselves and other official sources.
Boyko Borissov is the top-of-the-list candidate of GERB-UDF for Sofia’s 25th and Plovdiv City’s 16th multi-member constituencies, the party press service said here Thursday.
The GERB chair was born on 13 June 1959 in Bankya. He has been prime minister in three governments.
He graduated from the Higher School of the Ministry of the Interior. In 2001 he was appointed chief secretary of the Ministry of the Interior. Between 1985 and 1990 he was a lecturer at the Higher Institute for the Training of Officers and Research Activities of the Ministry of the Interior. He left the Ministry of the Interior system in 1990, according to a reference on the party’s official website.
After the by-elections, Borissov won as an independent candidate and in 2005 became mayor of Sofia. On his initiative, the GERB political party was founded on 3 December 2006.
Borissov has been a member of the 40th, 42nd, 43rd, 44th, 49th, 50th and 51st National Assemblies.
