site.btaTen Arrested in Varna in Vote-buying Sting

Ten people have been detained during a specialized operation targeting crimes related to political rights, the Varna Police said here on Wednesday. The operation began in the early hours of Wednesday and covers the entire region.

Evidence has been gathered so far indicating that the ten detainees participated in an organized criminal group. Information about the criminal association dates back to 2021.

As part of the operation, addresses in the town of Provadia (Northeast Bulgaria) and Varna were searched. Lists containing the personal data of hundreds of individuals were discovered, with polling station numbers marked next to their names. The search for several members of the criminal group is currently ongoing.

Work on the case continues under the supervision of the prosecuting magistracy, as authorities identify additional participants in the group.
