The caretaker Government will continue to act with decency, responsibility, and as a unified team, regardless of how many directions the attacks come from, caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gurov said at the start of the Cabinet's weekly meeting on Wednesday.

"There is no doubt these days that the caretaker Government is withstanding attacks that sound like part of an election campaign, even though we are not participating in elections, have no political parties, and are not nominating candidates," Gurov said.

The Prime Minister pointed out that the attacks against the Cabinet coincide with investigations and arrests of vote traders. They are also taking place at a time when the Government is announcing a comprehensive package of measures to curb rising prices. "They coincide as well with the disclosure of a shared trip involving the head of the only prosecution office authorized to investigate corruption and an individual who has become a symbol of corruption in the judiciary. Whether these are coincidence?" Gurov asked.

On March 30, Radio Free Europe, citing the website of former journalist and politician Nikolay Barekov, Bnews, reported that a Bulgarian MP had flown dozens of times over the past three years from Sofia Airport on two private Falcon jets. The Interior Ministry confirmed the information to Radio Free Europe. According to Bnews, the aircraft are owned by Movement for Rights and Freedoms leader Delyan Peevski.

Gurov stressed that the actions of the caretaker Cabinet are purposeful, transparent, and within the law. He was adamant that anti-inflation measures will be activated and that the Interior Ministry will ensure elections are conducted in accordance with the rules. The Minister of Justice will seek disciplinary accountability for magistrates who have chosen to act in concert with influence brokers, the Prime Minister added.
