site.btaUniBIT Professor: Our Students Are Developing Tourist Routes Demonstrating Bulgaria’s Literary Heritage
Prof. Vanya Dobreva, Head of the Department of Culture, Historical Heritage and Tourism at the University of Library Studies and Information Technologies (UniBIT), said students at the university are working on research papers and projects that connect Bulgarian classical literature with literary tourist routes in the country. Dobreva took part in a conference on "Culture. Tourism. Communications." at UniBIT on Tuesday, organized by the National Tourism Board (NTB). The event is part of a series marking the 20th anniversary of NTB.
Prof. Dobreva congratulated NTB on their anniversary, noting that the Department and the Board have been working together for the past 15 years and have carried out many joint initiatives. "Last year a new institute, dedicated to the Bulgarian diaspora and cultural heritage abroad, was established at UniBIT," she said.
With the Ministry of Culture’s support, the institute carried out an initiative marking the 155th anniversary of the Bulgarian Exarchate, which included visits to Bulgarian communities in the Balkans, Dobreva added. She expressed hope that a second joint initiative would be carried out this year to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Hristo Botev’s death. The anniversary will be marked with an exhibition aimed at Bulgarian communities in the Balkans and Europe.
The conference is held under the motto "The Four Keys to Sustainable Tourism – Culture, Nature, Food and Innovation". The anniversary events are held under the auspices of President Iliana Iotova and organized in partnership with the Tourism Ministry, with the Bulgarian News Agency as a media partner.
