site.btaUniBIT Rector: Hosting Culture. Tourism. Communications. Conference Is Both Privilege and Recognition
Hosting the Culture. Tourism. Communications. conference is not only a privilege for the University of Library Studies and Information Technologies (UniBIT) but also recognition of the key role of education in building a sustainable tourism sector, UniBIT Rector Prof. Irena Peteva said at the opening of the conference on Tuesday.
The symbolism of the event is even stronger as it is held under the patronage of Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova and is part of the celebrations marking the 20th anniversary of the National Tourism Board, Peteva noted.
She said that the theme of the jubilee initiative, "The 4 Keys to Sustainable Tourism – Culture, Nature, Food and Innovation", reflects the essence of modern national identity. "In an era of global transformation, tourism is not merely an economic sector but a powerful tool for communicating values and preserving cultural heritage," she added.
The conference provides a platform for constructive ideas outlining the challenges facing Bulgarian tourism and presenting opportunities for improvement through synergy between academia, business, and state institutions, Peteva said, extending greetings to all partners and participants.
The event is part of a series marking the 20th anniversary of the National Tourism Board. The jubilee initiative is organized in partnership with the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bulgarian News Agency, Bulgarian National Radio, UniBIT, the University of Food Technologies in Plovdiv, the University of Forestry, the Bulgarian Convention Bureau, the Bulgarian Restaurant Association, the Bulgarian Tourist Union and the European League for Economic Cooperation.
