site.btaGERB Leader Borissov Urges Supporters to Back His Party in Elections, Says Party Triggered Snap Vote
GERB leader Boyko Borissov told supporters in Veliko Tarnovo on Saturday that they should go to the polls aware that his party had triggered the elections, citing dissatisfaction with the current parliamentary configuration and outlining clear goals to be pursued if given public support.
Borissov met party members and voters at the Konstantin Kisimov Music and Drama Theatre, where he reviewed key topics including artificial intelligence, the defence industry, the Recovery and Resilience Plan, increased budget revenues from anti-smuggling efforts, and the international situation, including the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East. He also commented on gas production, the legitimacy of caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gurov and police summons issued to GERB mayors.
Veliko Tarnovo Mayor Daniel Panov highlighted completed projects, including motorway construction and efforts to address water shortages, before presenting GERB's candidate list for the region.
Top-of-the-list candidate for teh region Prof. Kostadin Angelov emphasized the strengths of the candidates and the importance of healthcare and the social system.
Former prime minister Rosen Zhelyazkov described the current situation in Bulgaria and globally as complex and dynamic, while Delyan Dobrev addressed energy policy, Schengen and eurozone accession, and the country's accumulated experience. Tomislav Donchev spoke about modern industry, its development and the need for clearer goals for societal progress.
