site.btaBulgarian, Romanian Deputy Defence Ministers Discuss Bilaterial Cooperation
Deputy Defence Minister Yordan Bozhilov took part in a conference dedicated to Ukraine, organized by Romania's New Strategy Center on Thursday. During his visit to the country, he held a meeting with his Romanian counterpart Sorin Moldovan, the Bulgarian Defence Ministry reported.
The two deputy ministers noted the excellent good-neighbourly relations and partnership between Bulgaria and Romania, as well as the constructive cooperation in the field of security and defence. The talks placed emphasis on the coordinated actions of the two NATO and EU Member States in response to the challenges and threats to security in the Black Sea region.
In the context of efforts to build national and allied capabilities, the sides noted the establishment and activities of the Black Sea Mine Countermeasures Group, the creation of the NATO Regional Special Operations Command Headquarters, the hosting of NATO multinational battlegroups in Bulgaria and Romania, and the enhanced cooperation in the field of military mobility. They exchanged views on the opportunities to strengthen the defence capabilities of both countries under the European Union’s SAFE mechanism.
