24 Suspects Detained for Various Crimes, Including Vote Buying - Sofia Chief of Police Nikolov

Twenty-four people have been detained for various types of crimes, including vote buying. Twelve fast-track proceedings have been initiated for violations of citizens’ voting rights, said here on Thursday Sofia's police chief Lyubomir Nikolov. He added that so far the total number of investigations into election violations at the Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office stands at 35. 

The results come from a police operation that has been underway since Wednesday afternoon. It involves officers the Sofia police, the General Directorate National Police and the Gendarmerie, and others. 

Nikolov noted that during the operation, about one kilogram of methamphetamine, approximately 700 grams of vacuum-sealed marijuana, and numerous lists of people with sums of money written next to their names were also discovered.
