Lisichka Song and Dance Ensemble, based in Munich, Germany, will take part in the 11th Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance travelling folklore festival. The festival will take place in BMW Park in Munich, Germany, from May 15 to 17.

The ensemble will present the dance miniature Meratsi iz Kraishte [yearnings from the Kraishte region], the group’s leader Mehmed Pamukov and dancers from the Lisichka ensemble said.

They said the choreography of the dance miniature is by Mehmed Pamukov, the composition by Hristo Neykov, and the music by Hristo Neykov and Yordan Iliev-Pisetsa.

"Through the dance miniature, we want to recreate the purity and beauty of first love as it existed in the traditional Bulgarian community. Our message is about respect between young people, the power of traditions and that fine balance between feelings and morals that shaped relationships between people in the past," the Lisichka ensemble added.

According to the dancers, preparation for the gathering is a dynamic and inspiring process. "We rehearse once a week, which requires concentration and dedication. Nevertheless, everyone comes to rehearsals willingly and leaves with a smile, filled with positive energy," they said.

The folklore formation also shared more about its history.

The Lisichka Song and Dance Ensemble was established in 2016 in Ingolstadt by Mehmed Pamukov, who has been its leader since its inception. His main goal is to preserve and promote traditional Bulgarian folk horo dances performed at village celebrations by previous generations. In addition, he creates original choreographies in which he invests emotion, creativity and dedication. The ensemble’s repertoire includes dances from all folklore regions of Bulgaria, as well as dances of minority communities in the country, Karakachan, Turkish, Albanian and others. The group consists mainly of Bulgarian dancers, as well as one participant from Romania, one from Argentina, and recently a young woman from Vietnam.

The group specified that the ensemble is active in Munich, where around 25 participants dance regularly. On March 1, 2026, a new group was also established in Ingolstadt, currently comprising about 15 dancers.

The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance travelling festival is organized by and for amateur folklore ensembles performing outside Bulgaria. The initiative was launched by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the first edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025. More than 100 dance ensembles and over 4,000 guests are expected at the 11th edition in Munich in May. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is the official media partner of the event and will present all participants.
