At its regular meeting on Wednesday, the caretaker government has appointed caretaker Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Minister Andrey Yankulov as Chair of the Foreign Direct Investment Inter-Agency Screening Council (FDI Council).
The FDI Council was established under the Investment Promotion Act as a permanent collective body responsible for reviewing applications for foreign direct investments and issuing or denying permits for such investments. Under the law, the council’s chair must be a deputy prime minister appointed by the government.
With the current decision, caretaker Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Minister Yankulov has been appointed as Chair, while caretaker Innovation and Growth Minister Irena Mladenova will serve as Deputy Chair.
